Giving the gift of Christmas to Barnardos

This year has been hard for everyone – for many reasons. Christmas is drawing closer, and we are all looking forward to more time with friends and family.

For some people, Christmas is a really hard time. There are many children who go without a present to open on Christmas morning, go without food and other basic necessities. With Covid 19, more than ever, children in Aotearoa need our help.

When we found out our local Church, Central Church, was trying to bring back Christmas to lots of Kiwi kids who were going without – we knew we had to help! The aim was to fill 50 bags with presents and treats for kids ages 0 -18.

We offered to host a collection in the office and what started as a small table of gifts quickly swelled, taking over a large corner of the office, as staff, customers and friends blew us a way with their generosity.

It’s incredibly humbling and heart-warming to see how people will pull together to help those in need after a difficult year for everyone.

We’d especially like to thank our suppliers and customers who gave so generously.

Barnardos is New Zealand’s leading children’s charity, working on the frontline of such confronting issues as family violence, addiction, neglect, abuse and struggles with mental health.

For more than 60 years, they have been helping children, families and Whānau in need. Today, Barnardos support, protect and educate thousands of New Zealand children – in fact, this year some 50,000 children, young people and parents have been helped.
